A few weeks ago I had the privilege of seeing our granddaughter, Olivia Grace, come into the world. What a moment! To see that little face for the first time, and to watch our daughter’s face as she first laid eyes on her own child… Well, inexpressible joy.
I thought today about how wonderful it is to see that “heritage of the Lord” manifested in front of our very eyes. Yes, it is something that happens many, many times every day, all over the world, and it is, therefore, easy to fall into thinking that it is nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary.
But it is special. It is our part of God’s life-giving. It is us sharing His joy of parenthood. And in many cases, it is answered prayer.
When I looked into Olivia’s face, I saw a beautiful, precious little girl. Our grandchild.
And I saw answered prayer, God’s goodness, and His plan at work.
“Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward” (Psalm 127:3).
